The key phrase to understanding this beautiful city is, "Everyone is a dragon." Literally everyone. The high school quarterback. The hairstylist with a green streak in her hair. The retired men eating brisket outside the feed store barbeque. In Southlake, the mascot for every elementary school, every middle school, every high school, and every intramural club is – you guessed it – a dragon. Once you live in Southlake, you’re a dragon for life.

The city of dragons is located predominantly in Tarrant County, extends as far into Denton County in the U.S. state of Texas. Southlake is a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth and is home to approximately  31,824 dragons. For those who love to go shopping, and splurging on luxury items, and yes, football, This upper-middle-class suburban metropolis is heaven!

Southlake public schools ranks not only among the best in the DFW area. They are considered among the best in the State of Texas. Most school age children who live in Southlake attend the Carroll Independent School District schools. Meanwhile, students living in about twenty mostly small subdivisions in southwest Southlake attend Keller ISD schools and six subdivisions in northwest Southlake are served by the Northwest Independent School District.

Although this lovely city is considered a shopping spree haven, one can also enjoy the natural beauty offered by the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve. It is an area filled with lush vegetation and surrounded by almost 758 acres of Cross Timbers habitat. This park has  over 20 miles of hiking trails available on the Nature Center grounds and on or near the Walnut Grove National Recreation Trail. The Walnut Grove National Recreation Trail is also accessible at several points along White Chapel Boulevard and near the end of E. Bob Jones Road. Just remember to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the season and to always bring water.
